Customising FireFox - Building a Dream Browser
Being fairly new to FF I am keen to get into it even more.
I have switchproxy installed which I use from time to time and the webdev extension which is damn cool.
rcjordan talks of blocking out adsense units with FF and a little tinkering.
Well any of you care to share how you do this tinkering?
I heard a rumour about showing the nollow links with CSS which I heard GooglGuy mention. How do you do that?
Cheers

Get adblock: http://adblock.
Get adblock:
http://adblock.mozdev.org/
Check out the wildcards.
Also consider flashblock. It will turn all flash on the page (usually intros, headers, or ads) into an "F" icon. You can choose whether to run it or not.
nofollow CSS
lol I just posted about this at WMW at the exact same time that you posted here
There are two methods, one to toggle changes on/off and one more permanent which involves changes to FF userContent.css,
You could also apply that same ruling, and then in addition to the rel="nofollow" highlighting you can hide the Google ad panels too..
just add
iframe[name~="google_ads_frame"] {visibility: hidden; !important;}
you could use display: none; instead of visibility but that may cause some layouts to break?

Resources
Warning - Blatant and Shameless Self-Promo Imminent! ;)
I have listed quite a few extension resources over here, not all of them I am sure, but what I considered the main resources. I am liking FF more and more each day.
Absolutely
And that Sage tip was invaluable Woz. I cant beleive i was using a hosted solution for so long...
but, saying that, im not knocking bloglines, it DOES rock. It's just better for me to not be dependent on anyone elses server uptime :)
more fav extensions..
yes Sage is v.cool (it's css is customisable too btw)
I also use QuickNote which is handy for copying text excerpts to.. just select the text you want, right click and >>send to quicknote it's saved there until you delete it or need it and move/copy it elsewhere.
and then there's Sidebars - I couldn't do without them, they replace my bookmarks in a lot of cases ~
.. some I've written for myself others are relics (though updated) from old netscape sidebars, all saved locally now too so not uptime dependent and would act as bookmarks pages in the event of Bookmarks folder failing ~ a moz failing apparently though it's not struck me yet ~ Oh and in case it does I have the bookmark backup extension too.. )
many more too, Colorzilla, Search Status, Link Toolbar, BugmeNot (not so reliable any more?), UA switcher, Web Dev, Switch Proxy..
First thing is to make it FLY

Tabbrowser Extensions
Install this and it gives you advanced control over tabs. For instance, have 8 tabs open to 'recent posts' pages of your favourite forums. It refreshes these every 600 seconds and then memorises these tabs when you close browser. When you open browser, it is already open to all your favourite sites.
downTHEMall! extension
I download a lot of music from one particular Russian MP3 site. The site makes you right click and 'Save Link As...' for every album. Bit of a pain if you are downloading 300+ albums in one go!
You click this little baby and it downloads every downloadable thing on page in one go.
Also useful for sites where there are lots of interesting photos and videos on a page that you might want to download to your hard drive! :)
Sidebars
I have the Wizz news reader and the PubSub sidebar. Autocopy, View Cookies, Bandwidth Tester, UA Switcher, Stock Ticker, Spellbound, Conquery, and Dictionary Search. Haven't found a need yet to have more control over tabs, I open three sites in tabs when I fire up the browser and that's enough. Already done the speed tweaks.
I added the Wordpress, Link This and Press It tools.
What does Sage offer over Wizz? (other than a better name)...
Sidebars
Is there one easy spot for finding sidebars? I dont have a single one installed unless sage is counted as one..
Dunno
I haven't found one convenient place yet for sidebars. PubSub sidebar is available at PubSub. Others are here: https://addons.update.mozilla.org/extensions/
They don't make the distinction between a "sidebar" and a regular "extension" though.
Yeah, get spellbound. And
Yeah, get spellbound.
And you'll have to think of uses for this one, but it has saved me a huge amount of time on a recent project; linky.
