Not sure why people are only having this discussion now. The most overlooked and one of the most important points Matt Cutts made in his indexing timeline post this past May was specifically about this:

I don't know about reciprocals but link selling or derivatives of it seem to work fine.
I can't see how they can decide if a link is artificial without a human review if it's one way and embedded in content. Sitewides are easy to catch, but the rest a little harder.

A website which seems to rotate the outbound links on a page at regular intervals can be presumed to be behaving in a manner not consistant with conventional linking though.
Ergo, to avoid the penalty - you may need to buy permanent links as opposed to monthly rentals.

I think that is a way off. They cannot even catch links changing every minute in the coop scheme :))

It's not as if the publishers of coop links don't carry a big signature in the DP blank gif. So if Google really wanted to smack that down it shouldn't be difficult. So far, seems that's not their objective.

i socked to know you know about the link selling and dont know about the reciprocal linking .. reciprocal is a link exchanging between two sites which have same type of theme and willing to link exchange.

WMW is full of crap postings from newbees, it takes way too long to go thru all the crap to find something worth while. In this case everything worth while in that thread was discussed months ago (and not at wmw)... Ya real cutting edge stuff at wmw... not!
