Blatant Content Theft - Makes me laugh...
- By: ukgimp - 7th Mar 2005
Doing a bit of the old log file reading and I located a site that had sent some referals. I checked the page out and found they had ripped the entire content. Fair enough, but this was the best bit:
Images and information placed above are from h*ttp://w*ww.mysite.com/somewhere.php
h*ttp://w*ww.somesite.com/tour/
h*ttp://w*ww.anothersite.co.uk/somwehere/
We thank them for the data!
We thank them for the data!.....We thank them for the data!
How blatant it that lol. Not the only page as well.
Rumour: Fire at Netcetra?
- By: ukgimp - 4th Mar 2005
Anybody hear anything about a fire or some major stuff going down at Netcetra. The building was Red Bus and something large happened Tuesday this week? For example hard drives could not be physically recovered.
Tight lipped syndrome at the moment.
I was just wondering if there was any word on the street, or smoke visible at Red Bus?

Religion, Polictics, and.....

Ethics
Should ethics be lumped in with all the other crazy topics that cause mayhem.
I have seen a great number of decent threads, not just here, but everywhere, de-railed when ethics got in the way when it reared its head.
I am not saying that ethics are bad or that people should not think about them and apply different ones to suit their chosen way of life.
But do we have to degrade to ethics every time? Sometimes it is not just about ethics, there are more interesting things to discuss/think about.
How Clean is your Mouse

How to clean your mouse.... (This actually works pretty well)
To recalibrate your mouse, click and hold on the S. Then drag the S toward the K. If it doesn't work, you might want to clean your mouse.
Stop fucking about and do some work
Remember lovehearts?

A blatant rubbish post but what the hell, Nick can always nuke it.
Backups and Balls Ups - Dealing with Data Loss
- By: ukgimp - 11th Feb 2005
A very recent paraphrased conversation:
Me: So when did you last do a back up
Them: When it stopped working
Me: When was that
Them: About a year ago
Me: WTF, why in the name of Christ did you not tell me before
Them: Don’t know.
Me: But the break in we just had last night where one of the main machines was stolen and all the data liberated so the machine can be sold for £100 down the boozer was the reason we had the backup in the first place. Now we don’t have a box or the freaking data etc etc etc
So based on the above what can I put in place to get it all automated. I need simple solutions that don’t require massive outlay. I am after recommendations please. :-). A 3 machine network.
Cheers
Major Security Breach - WHOIS DB: Passwords Revealed
- By: ukgimp - 10th Feb 2005
This came to me via an anonymous source but this is a bit of a concern. On more than one query, very sensitive password data was visible.
The original source added that only certain domains had the breach visible.
Very alarming!
Added by Nick
Confirmed - got sent a few whois queries to try and have seen a whole bunch of user passwords on NetSol - You can Try a Query Here - if your site is registered with NetSol then you may see your passord revealed in the results....

Weird Errors at Google - Is Google Really Under Attack?
- By: ukgimp - 22nd Jan 2005
OK
it is not just me I checked this out with several other people with a range of OS's from Linux to windows and it appear Google think they are under attack.
Here is the error
ErrorWe're sorry...
... but we can't process your request right now. A computer virus or spyware application is sending us automated requests, and it appears that your computer or network has been infected.
We'll restore your access as quickly as possible, so try again soon. In the meantime, you might want to run a virus checker or spyware remover to make sure that your computer is free of viruses and other spurious software.
We apologize for the inconvenience, and hope we'll see you again on Google.
The query that produced this is
inurl:add_site.php?
now do it without the ?
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=inurl%3Aadd_site.php&btnG=Google+Search&meta=
Since when has Google had a problem with '?'?
Without spending my life looking for variants G works when using .asp? etc
So is this really Google under the cosh?
Customising FireFox - Building a Dream Browser
- By: ukgimp - 21st Jan 2005
Being fairly new to FF I am keen to get into it even more.
I have switchproxy installed which I use from time to time and the webdev extension which is damn cool.
rcjordan talks of blocking out adsense units with FF and a little tinkering.
Well any of you care to share how you do this tinkering?
I heard a rumour about showing the nollow links with CSS which I heard GooglGuy mention. How do you do that?
Cheers
